Fully Forgiven

Psalm 103:12

East and west are two directions that never meet, that infinitely go the opposite direction from each other. What the Psalmist is presenting is the idea of perfect forgiveness. Often times, we feel like our sin and mistakes are too great for God to still love us, that we couldn’t possibly be forgiven after making so great a mistake. Not only does the Psalmist point to the idea that God forgives our iniquity, but removes its power and penalty an infinite distance away.

Psalm 103:12

[12] as far as the east is from the west,

so far does he remove our transgressions from us. (ESV)

Knowing we are forgiven and forgiven great causes us to draw near to the Lord. With a weight that would cling so deeply in our hearts being eternally removed, we are brought into eternal joy and freedom because we can stand before the Father with a righteousness that Christ accomplished for us on the cross. Is there a former sin that is waying you down? Surrender it to the Lord, rest in assurance that if you are in Christ, it has been completely removed.
