Heirs Of Peace

In a world full of chaos and division, peace is something that may be foreign to us. In a world where people will fight for what they believe to be true, peace is something that we think can be accomplished after we prove to the world that our way is right. Jesus here says, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” demonstrating an honor and joy through being someone who puts their agendas to the side for the sake of unity in this world. Not only is this a great joy and honor, but it provides a great benefit. Jesus says, “for they shall be called sons of God.” This concept of being a peacemaker also ties into our identity as sons of God. We know that God is a God of peace, one of perfect peace.

In our attempts and strivings to become peacemakers, we are living in the identity that God Himself calls us to, because it is also a characteristic of who He is. As we live in a world of chaos and disorder, our calling and identity is to be sons of God, following after our Father as He is peace. Is there an area in your life, maybe in your family or workplace, where there is division that desperately needs the light of Christ to bring peace to the chaos? Wherever it may be, shine the light inside of you, living out your identity as a son or daughter of the Most High God, becoming the peacemaker that Christ has called you to be!
