Humbled by Majesty
As David meditates on the beauty of creation and the power of God, he is drawn to humility. When beholding the power of God, the question is raised, “why me?” There is this mountain in Phoenix, where at the top, a beautiful view of the valley is in sight. At the highest point, you witness the mountains and the valley that seemingly go on forever. Phoenix is a big city, but is insignificant in size compared to the entire world. The power needed to create these beautiful mountains and valley is incomprehensible. Never in millions of years could man produce this. I look to the smallest rock, knowing that I could never create something as small and insignificant like this, purely out of nothing. | ![]() |
Psalm 8:3-4
[3] When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
[4] what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
![]() | God didn’t only create the city of Phoenix, the United States, or even the world, but created millions of galaxies, all out of nothing. This same God is the one who created you and me. Not only did this God create us, but when we were separated from Him, came down to us in human form, taking the punishment we deserved upon himself. He didn’t create man to purely fill his created world, but to be in intimate relationship with Him, delighting in Him and worshiping Him for all of eternity. Meditating on the creation of the world demonstrates how small we truly are, but does not diminish the love and delight God has for His people.
