Refuge in the Unshakable

Psalm 62:2

Where do you find your strength? Is it in the comfort that the world brings, maybe in wealth or status? Often times, our security and comfort can be shifted from the things of God to the things of the world. The Psalmist addresses this issue by looking to the Lord as the solo agent of his comfort. Though trial may come his way, he stands his ground, knowing that his refuge is the God of the universe. He describes God as his salvation, remembering the promise of eternal life that is found purely in Him, using this as the grounds for his comfort.

Psalm 62:2

[2] He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. (ESV)

Knowing that he can be persecuted, beaten, or even killed, there is this reality that regardless of what happens to him, he will spend eternity in eternal delight in His Heavenly Father. Why is it that we neglect so great a peace and comfort in our everyday lives? As believers in Jesus Christ, meditating on the Gospel brings the greatest possible peace that could ever be found
