Romans Road Day 1
Verses - Romans 3:23 Genesis 3:13 Luke 18:13-14
Main Points - All people have sinned, separating themselves from a Holy GodMan’s fallen state seeks its own desires and passionsNo fallen man can get into Heaven due to their unworthiness.
I Held Onto Nothing | As man was created to bear the image of his Creator, man was quick to rebel against God. After the creation of the world, God commanded man and woman to not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. All man knew was good, but man decided to eat from this tree as an attempt to become like God [Gen 3]. |
With man’s eyes open to evil, sin enters the world, separating man from a holy God. We see this evil constantly in our world today. From the extreme terror attacks, to the hatred and bitterness we have in our own lives. Every single person has sinned [Romans 3:23], whether small or great, this sin makes us unworthy to be in relationship with a God who is perfect and holy. All hope for eternity has been lost, as life with God in heaven requires perfection.
Man’s pride today seeks self justification and seeks comparison to the evil in the world, thinking “I am not as bad as they are,” but those God truly shows compassion to are the sinners, who like in Luke 18, come to the Lord with humility and repentance. “But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified” [Luke 18:13-14] Do we truly recognize our sin and need for Christ, or are we like the Pharisees, blinded by their desire to be self righteous?
