Romans Road Day 2

Verses - Romans 5:8, Romans 5:7 Main Points - Man was dead in their sin, made alive by God True love is demonstrated in action Christ died for those who hated Him

A mighty river flowing upward from a deep but empty grave

While man was dead in their sin [Ephesians 2], separated from the holy, God came and sought us, to bring us back into right relationship with himself. Romans 5:8 describes the extremity of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. “While we were still sinners.” The people who constantly rebel against God, choosing everything but Him, are the same people He went through the most humiliating and painful death for.

Verse 7 captures this even more, saying, “For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die” [Romans 5:7]. The holiest of holies came down to earth, to be killed by His own people, out of love and mercy, to satisfy the entire wrath of God.

How much does God truly love His own people, that He was willing to die, so that His people may be spared from the wrath of God! How often do we meditate on this truth? The extremity of God’s compassion. It is beyond incomprehensible that a holy God would sacrifice His own life, for a broken sinner like you and me. How great a love.

How often do you love someone sacrificially, just as Christ has loved you?

Please respond with any questions or encouragement!
