Sweeter Than Honey
Psalm 19
When you hear the word, “Bible,” what emotions come up? Is it one of joy? Maybe there are feelings of exhaustion due to the daily pressure to read it? When we think of the holy Scriptures, there should be feelings of great joy and peace, but how come there is often not? We often struggle deep down understanding the value of the Word of God. We know its important, but do we truly believe it? The Psalmist here in Psalm 19 is speaking about the Law of Moses. Oftentimes, when we look at the Law, we see it as a burden. | ![]() |

[10] More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. (ESV) |
The opposite is the reaction of David when meditating on the Law. He points to the reality that the Law is greater than all things on this earth. Not only is it highly valuable to David, but desirable and sweet. If David has this posture towards the first 5 books of the Bible, how much more should we, understanding we have the entirety of the Biblical canon in our hands? If we truly see the Word of God for its proper value, we will desire it fully. Meditate and ask the Lord to show you. He is faithful. Respond with any questions, prayer requests, or encouragement!
