The Meek Shall Reign

How many of you guys like to do things your specific way? Chances are we are all raising our hands real high, as we think our way of doing things is the most productive or enjoyable. We often can find ourselves doing this in the Christian life, falling into a legalism of sorts, trying to earn merit before God, as if Christ’s death was not enough. Jesus here speaks of the meek, one who is humble, quiet, or non violent. The cross of Jesus Christ should kill all grounds for pride, as it was our sin that put Him on the cross.

When we see our sin compared to a holy, perfect, righteous God, all our pride should fall to the floor. But, when we see our sin, our incapability of reaching Him on our own, we are drawn to humbly rely on His righteousness to be our own. When we realize that we are sinners in need of Christ, we are brought to saving faith when we believe in our heart and confess with our tongues that Jesus Christ is Lord (Romans 10:9). When we are meek and see our need for Him, we will inherit the earth, enjoying a new heaven and new earth with Christ for all of eternity
